Erik founded Lucid Light LLC in February of 2015 after experiencing a dramatic personal shift in his life due to the Lucia N3 meditation appliance on New Year's Day of 2015.
He experienced a sudden sense of well-being and non-perturbedness which overcame him and lasted longer than he expected, he knew he had to bring it back to the Austin, TX community. He believes the Lucid Light will be one of the keys to our community(ies) recognizing greater comfort, creativity, and connection between us all.
Erik began meditating in a dojo, somewhat against his will, at the age of 10. He accidentally recognized a sense of peace, connection, and empowerment associated with his meditations around age 11.
Esoteric healing and spiritual seeking quickly became favorite topics of study and practice and have remained a constant in his life.
Because of the dedication and focus required to continue a meditation practice, it all but vanished during his college and early career years. (Ironically, meditation might have been most beneficial during those years)
After integrating meditation into daily massage and healing work, it became obvious how difficult it is for many in today's world to step out of the almost constant state of fight-or-flight we operate in. It can be difficult torecognize the importance of, allocate time for, and expend the effort to reach these reparative, altered states of consciousness.
Erik experimented with many different ways to meditate: walking and guided meditations, painting, martial arts, flow arts (poi, staff, whips), breath work, yoga, fire and flame meditations, sun gazing, drumming, etc.
Erik has stated his intent is to aid great numbers of people to reach meditative and modified states of consciousness so that we might all understand and appreciate ourselves and each other better.
Samantha Leilani Kuykendall
Becoming a Reiki Master brought Samantha a profound appreciation for the power of meditation. The "standard" way of meditating (sitting in a quiet room and trying to empty the mind) brought mixed or frustrating results. Samantha discovered how practicing Reiki ushered her into a meditative state. Recognizing she didn't need to meditate in any one particular way, she discovered dance could alter her state, especially when she used it as a spiritual mediation. After that, she found drumming, art, singing She discovered the creative concentration of permaculture landscape designing would bring on a familiar meditative calm and sense of oneness. But when she meditated there seemed to be a wall where the meditative state would inevitably dissipate. She felt she was on the verge of a deeper sense of self, but the time to sort through this conundrum grew became less and less accessible.
When time came for her first session with the Lucia N3, it had been weeks since she'd reached a meditative state and she felt like she had overextended herself. There was a minor family emergency and she was unable to complete her full light session. Although it initially distressed her, she quickly came to experience a state of underlying calm that she hadn't felt in the months prior to those few minutes under the light.
Though she began her quest expecting great things; the subtle, yet profound, effects that unfolded in her life allowed her to recognize she'd broken through that meditative wall. The potent feeling of well-being lingered for days. In subsequent sessions, she began to address specific issues. Each time session, she would experience an expanded sense of well-being and would typically have one or more simple, honest solutions present themselves. She says there is no way she couldn't participate in sharing this with neighbors, seekers, friends, and family.
She joins Erik as a Lucid Light attendant who holds space for those yearning to discover meditative states that bring forward spiritual growth, understanding, and joy.
